Almond Crescents

 
Ingredients 
425 g all-purpose flour 1 3/4 cups
250 g ground almonds 1 cup
50 g sugar 1/4 cup
1 pkg Dr. Oetker Vanilla Sugar 1 pkg
250 g butter or margarine, cold 1 cup
 
Decoration 
250 g sifted icing sugar 1 cup
3 pkg Dr. Oetker Vanilla Sugar 3 pkg

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F). Grease a baking sheet.

2. Blend flour, ground almonds, sugar and vanilla sugar together on a pastry board.

3. Cut cold butter into small pieces over dry ingredients. Work all ingredients together quickly to make a smooth dough.

4. Roll a small amount at a time into pencil-like strips. Cut into small rolls about 5 cm (2").

5. Place on prepared baking sheet. Shape into crescents.

6. Bake at 150°C (300°F) for 10-15 min or until light golden.

7. Roll warm cookies in mixture of icing sugar and vanilla sugar. Cool. Store in airtight conrainer.

*These cookies get better the longer they are kept.
