Chocolate Nut Strips

 
Ingredients 
2/3 cup sweet (unsalted) butter 130 g
2/3 cup sugar 130 g
1 pkg Dr. Oetker Vanilla Sugar 1 pkg
3 egg yolks 3
3/4 all-purpose flour 130 g
1 tsp Dr. Oetker Baking Powder 4 g
3/4 cup chocolate chips 130 g
3/4 cup ground nuts 80 g
3 egg whites 3
 
Decoration 
1 cup chopped nuts 100 g

Directions

Dough:

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 2L (39 cm x 26 cm/15" x 10") jelly pan and line with waxed paper. Grease again.

2. Cream butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and egg yolks together in mixer bowl until light and fluffy.

3. Sift flour and baking powder together over creamed mixture. Mix well.

4. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

5. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks.

6. Fold into creamed mixture.

7. Turn batter into prepared pan.

8. Sprinkle evenly with chopped nuts and push gently into surface of batter.

9. Bake on middle oven rack at 180°C (350°F) for 25-30 minutes.

10. Cut into strips while warm.
